Pasay City, Philippines (December 11, 2016) – Ang Dating Daan (The Old Path) gathered thousands of guests during its ‘Worldwide Bible Exposition’ held December 9 at the 15,000-seating-capacity SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

The event coincided with the program’s 36th anniversary in propagating the gospel through broadcast media. It was aired live in more than 1,360 satellite monitoring centers of Members Church of God International MCGI) and streamed through Facebook Live and YouTube in real time.

The program, which is known for giving free copies of the Bible to its televiewers, distributed 8,000 copies of the Bible. Guests who joined the celebration were able to listen to the words of God and get the chance to ask questions of faith and religion directly to the program’s main host, Bro. Eli Soriano.

International televangelist Bro. Eli Soriano is the Overall Servant (Presiding Minister) to MCGI. He started a 30-minute program on AM station DWWA 1206 kHz in 1980 and television via IBC-13 in 1983. Public service advocate and Assistant Overall Servant to MCGI (Vice Presiding Minister) Bro. Daniel Razon is the co-host.

The Ang Dating Daan Chorale, who got the Guinness World Records in 2015 for “Largest Gospel Choir,” offered songs of praises to God while waiting for the guests to come over the main venue and in other remote points globally. They were accompanied by MCGI Teatro Kristiano who graciously performed dance presentation. Solemn hymns were sung a few minutes before the opening prayer.

He expressed happiness over the people’s interest in listening to the words of God in the Bible. “We are happy to be with you this moment in our quest for the truth. Ang anyaya po namin sa inyo ay salu-salo tayong mag-aral, mag-isip, at mag-bulay sa mga salita ng Dios. Nagpapasalamat kami especially sa ating mga followers sa Facebook, sa YouTube, at sa iba’t-ibang social media. Umaasa po kami na makakasama namin kayo sa mga ilang sandaling ito ng ating pag-aaral ng mga salita ng Dios,” said Bro. Eli.

He also asked for forgiveness to those who might be offended beforehand, in the way he give straightforward answers to questions. “Bago lang po tayo magsimula, ibig kong humingi agad sa inyo ng paumanhin mga kababayan on the course ng pag-sagot namin sa mga tanong. Kasi po live po ito. Kaya kung halimbawa, ang isang tanong ay nagre-require ng isang frank answer, isang definite answer, hindi pwedeng i-generalize, I have to use definite answers.”

Bro. Daniel also known as “Kuya,” meanwhile gave a background on how the program will run. “Ang atin pong format, kagaya ng inyong nalalaman, ay ang pagbibigay ng pagkakataon sa ating mga kababayan na makapag-usisa ng mga bagay na may kinalaman sa banal na kasulatan, sa Biblia pati problemang espiritual,” said Kuya Daniel.

He also expressed his gratitude and thanksgiving to the Lord for the program’s 36th year and counting, in spreading the good news to everyone.

“Una po ang ating pagpapasalamat sa Panginoon na umabot tayo ng 36 na taon sa pagsasahimpapawid. Nagpapasalamat tayo sa Dios sa pagbibigay din sa atin ng mga katuwang sa pagtataguyod ng pagsasahimpapawid ng programang Ang Dating Daan, ang atin pong mga kasama sa [Members] Church of God International at sa lahat ng mga tao din na nag-extend sa atin po ng courtesy sa iba’t-ibang lugar na pinagsagawaan natin ng ating mga Bible Expositions sa iba’t-ibang probinsya dito sa Pilipinas at gayun din sa iba’t-ibang panig mg mundo,” said Kuya Daniel.

The audience coming from different locations were able to ask Bro. Eli. These include questions about forgiving, reconciliation with God, being poor or wealthy, faith or religion, if gays and bisexuals are accepted in the church and searching for the truth.

Prominent personalities in politics, law practice and movie and entertainment industry were also present during the event to ask questions and give testimonies.

Reviving Humanity’s Faith and Hope Through Evangelization

Ang Dating Daan aims to continue its extensive propagation, with the help of God, in line with this year’s theme, “Reviving Humanity’s Faith and Hope Through Evangelization.”

Despite intense persecution, Ang Dating Daan continues in its task of propagating the gospel through all means possible – print, radio, television, internet and social media – preaching the words of God based on the Bible and answering questions of faith.

The program which humbly started in 1980s, is now gaining strong viewership in Central and South America. It is being aired in different local stations, aside from its own network of relay stations under “TV Verdade” and TV La Verdad.”

Ang Dating Daan is also known for its charitable projects, heeding Biblical admonitions. It offers daily free medical and legal assistance and scholarship grants, regular feeding programs, medical missions, mass blood donation drives, daily free rides and livelihood programs. It also maintains orphanages for the elderly and infant care facilities.
