Manila, Philippines (May 1, 2017) – Wish FM 107.5 is not dwelling on its latest setback as they look forward to regain the social media leadership no other Philippine FM station have attained.

Wish FM will start from scratch as it opens a new and enhanced YouTube channel, with similar name, after its detractors launched series of attempts to pin down the country’s number one FM YouTube channel.

The original Wish FM 107.5 YouTube channel contains hundreds of song covers by well known artists, both local and international and already gained more than 400 million views to date.

The station’s urgent move was made to comply with the terms and conditions of video sharing service provider YouTube, a company owned and operated by Google.

Last April 25, 2017, the radio station’s YouTube channel was hidden temporarily due to multiple copyright claims from third-party groups.

It resumed after a few hours but more or less 30 Wishclusive videos were no longer accessible. The total number of posted videos went down to around 470 from the previous 500 and also reduced the total views from more than 400 million to 380 million.

YouTube is implementing very strict policies on copyright claims submitted by third-party complainants.

Negotiation Ongoing

Wish FM 107.5 management is now in talks with concerned parties and YouTube in order to sort out valid copyright claims such as those coming from legitimate recording labels to permanently resolve the matter and continue bringing great music to everyone.

The station apologized for any inconvenience brought by the issue especially to music lovers and to their 1.2 million subscribers.

Its regular FM broadcast via Wish 107.5 MHz in Metro Manila and other media platforms were not affected.

Business as Usual

Wish 107.5 promises new and additional content aside from Wishclusive covers on its new channel.

On May 1, the station began airing artist interview and performance via Facebook Live.

The station is operating business-as-usual and even showcased Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez-Alcasid on a Labor Day holiday in partnership with Eastwood and PLDT Home Fibr.

Regine rendered her powerful Original Pilipino Music (OPM) hit “Araw Gabi.” She will be performing again on Sunday, May 7 at People’s Park in Laguna onboard the Wish FM Bus.

New Home

On May 1, 2017, the station officially launched its new YouTube channel with similar name, with only the dot (point) as glaring difference. Wish FM began re-uploading Wishclusive videos to beef-up the channel’s content.

The announcement was made over Wish FM’s official Facebook and Twitter accounts and already gained 7,000 subscribers as of this writing.

Wish FM 107.5 Milestone

Wish 107.5 hits one million subscribers just two years after its launch as of March 2017, the first Philippine FM station to achieve such record in YouTube.

It was launched in July 2014 and now with more or less 500 videos featuring covers of all-time hits performed by international and local artists in the music industry, in high definition (HD), 1080p video quality and high-quality audio recording.

The channel gathered not only regular subscribers from the Philippines, but also from the United States, Canada, New Zealand and Brazil.

Wish FM is the one that started unique concepts like the Wish 1075 Bus, Wishclusive performances, Wish 107.5 Music Awards and wish granting advocacy for Filipinos in need.

In December last year, YouTube Philippines recognized Wish FM for achieving a 236% increase in subscription in 2016.

In March 2017, Wish 107.5 received a citation for “Innovative FM Radio Broadcasting” from Media and Communication Department of the College of Arts and Sciences of Trinity University of Asia during Platinum Stallion Media Awards (PSMA) 2017. [techthetruth]
